She is a three-event track and field athlete and a former figure skater, bringing a wealth of personal experience to her work. Her advocacy extends beyond personal ambition; she has dedicated herself to the Association of Women in Sports Media and is looking to partner with the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF), which has invested over $100 million in expanding opportunities for girls and women in sports over the past 50 years. For Mortenson, achieving true gender equality in sports requires relentless effort—women must go to great lengths to make great strides.

But Mortenson’s passions are far from one-dimensional. She is a vintage car enthusiast deeply immersed in the Golden Era and muscle car culture, boasting a prized 1976 Suzuki Dirt Bike. Her love for speed and power translates seamlessly into her personal style, where she is known for an edgy, chic aesthetic and a keen eye for emerging trends. Fashion, to her, is an extension of identity—an art form through which she expresses both her femininity and strength.

Now setting her sights on Miss Minnesota USA, Mortenson views pageantry as one of the most noble sports of all. The mental, physical, and spiritual preparation required to compete at such a level is as rigorous as any athletic endeavor. “Beauty is absolutely more than skin deep,” she asserts. “Underneath the glamour is resilience, self-reliance, and a deep commitment to serving the community.”

If crowned, Mortenson hopes to use the platform to inspire young women, particularly those from small towns, to dream without boundaries. “Your aspirations aren’t rural or urban, metropolitan or suburban—they’re yours,” she says. “Dreams are big because they’re supposed to be.
